Accomodation

If you would like accommodation during the courses, here is a list of B&Bs that are within a reasonable distance of Assington. Please make separate arrangements with the owners of the establishments listed below.

ASSINGTON MILL

We have one double bedroom and one twin-bedded room available in the house for B&B. £30 per person per night. This is our family home so we regret we are unable to accept dogs or smokers.

Please note that there are no ATMs within 6 miles, but the farm shop in the village will do cashback if you spend a certain amount. We get all our food for the courses there; no need to go anywhere else. PETROL available at Boxford (3 miles) or at Colchester (10m) or Sudbury (6).

MILL COTTAGE: the cottage is part of the former mill building, overlooking the large millpond, and has been converted and is available for hire from May 2008. It sleeps two. Fishing available (trout, rudd, roach, bream). Well-behaved dogs welcome, but not smokers! This is a fabulous place to spend some time if you want real peace! See pictures online at www.grove-cottages.co.uk.

To book, contact Mark Scott on 01787 211115, email: mark@grove-cottages.co.uk, or www.cottage-agency.co.uk

CAMPING is also possible at Assington Mill. Toilet and shower available in a wetroom; kitchen with two hobs and urn also available. £5 per night. We are not a proper camp site; this is just a facility for people coming on the courses. You can camp anywhere you like on the farm.

Assington

We have a cottage in the farmyard complex, overlooking the millpond, which has a double bedroom and sitting room upstairs, and a kitchen/hall and wetroom downstairs.  The boiler room can also be used as a drying room.  The building used to be part of the mill, maybe the office, and was converted in 2008.  It is heated by a ground source heat pump, which takes heat from the earth, and has a woodburning stove for extra cosiness.  There is a private garden between the cottage and the millpond, surrounded on the other two sides by a shrub-rose bed on one side and a willow ba

Converted mill buildings overlooking the meadows of the Stour. Sudbury is an old-fashioned market town, not messed about in the 20th century, and was called Eatanswill by Charles Dickens, a reference to its corrupt politicians.
